The Nebraska Board of Regents has unanimously approved a plan to move all sports at the University of Nebraska Omaha to Division I - the top division in college sports. Right now only UNO hockey competes at that level. The Summit League, a Division I conference in the Midwest, has invited UNO to join. But two of the school's most successful programs - football and wrestling - would not join. Instead they would be cancelled to closer align UNO sports with other schools in the Summit League. NET News' Grant Gerlock spoke with UNO's Athletic Director, Trev Alberts, this week before the Regents' vote. Albert said that new legislation from the NCAA means the Mavericks cannot rise to Division I without the Summit League.
