Omaha High School Shooting Kills Millard South Assitant Principal

Omaha Police say a 17-year-old walked into Millard South High School and opened fire, wounding two administrators, before leaving the school and fatally shooting himself. 58-year-old Assistant Principal Vicki Kaspar died from her wounds Wednesday night at Creighton Medical Center. Principal Curtis Case was listed in serious condition. Police Chief Alex Hayes says the gunman, Robert Butler, Jr., is the son of an Omaha police detective. Butler, Jr. was a student in Lincoln before moving to Omaha last fall. He entered Millard South High School at about 12:50 p.m. CT opening fire on the administrators. No students were injured in the shooting. The school was locked down for several hours before students were released in groups. Parents and family members had gathered outside the school waiting for their children.
