NPPD taking comments on pipeline powerlines

If the Keystone XL oil pipeline is approved to be built through Nebraska, it would become a significant customer for the Nebraska Public Power District. Five pump stations along the pipeline route would require large amounts of electricity to keep the oil flowing. To meet that demand, NPPD has planned 3 new transmission lines in Central Nebraska to power pump stations near Stuart, Ericson, and Central City.
