NET Radio's December "Nebraska Concerts" Features Holiday Music Favorites

LINCOLN, Neb. (Nov. 23, 2010) -- During December, "Nebraska Concerts," NET Radio's weekly series of fine music performed and recorded on Nebraska's stages, features music to celebrate the holiday season. "Nebraska Concerts" airs on NET Radio Sundays at 1 p.m. CT.

On Sunday, Dec. 5, "Nebraska Concerts" presents music from two December 2009 concerts. The Nebraska Brass plays traditional holiday favorites and music from Gwyneth Walker, Tylman Susato, Mykola Leontivich, Michael Praetorius, Vince Guaraldi, and James Pierpont on "A Nebraska Brass Christmas." Then, hear more holiday favorites, plus music from Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn and Cannonball Adderley when the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra performs "Christmas And All That Jazz."

The next "Nebraska Concerts," airing Sunday, Dec. 12, features another concert from last December. Lincoln's Early Music vocal group, Dulces Voces, and the Lincoln Early Music Consort perform "Caroling, Caroling: A Christmas Concert." The program includes traditional hymns and music by Heinrich Isaac, Tielman Susato, G.D. Rognoni Taeggio, Peter Warlock and Alfred Burt, R.L. Pearsall, as well as a visit from "The Christmas Monkey."

The Abendmusik Chorus, the Plymouth Brass, and the Plymouth Ringers perform traditional carols and African-American spirituals on "Nebraska Concerts," airing Sunday, Dec. 19. The December 2009 program entitled "Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room," features holiday music by Rachmaninoff, Honegger, Mendelssohn and Bach.

The last program of Deember, on Sunday, Dec. 26, was recorded earlier in the month and features Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra and the University Singers (University of Nebraska-Lincoln) performing a concert called "Deck The Halls." From Handel's "Messiah" to "Sleigh Ride," this annual holiday pops concert includes traditional holiday favorites and music from "The Nutcracker."
