A Nebraska native who was severely wounded in Afghanistan has been decorated with a Purple Heart by President Bush. Capt. Rob Yllescas and some other soldiers were honored by Mr. Bush on the eve of Veteran's Day when the president visited the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Yllescas's legs were mangled and he suffered head trauma nearly two weeks ago when an improvised explosive device detonated near him.

His legs later were amputated. His wife, Dena, has been writing about her husband in a blog. She and her 31-year-old husband have two daughters and they met in Osceola, Neb. He had been commanding a cavalry troop for the Army's 1st Infantry Division. For a link to Dena's blog click here
