Land line phone service is down in a large part of southeast Nebraska, which has disabled 911 services. The counties included are Butler, Seward, Saunders, Lancaster, Clay, Adams, Northern Gage, Jefferson, Cass, Saline, Richardson and Filmore. In case of an emergency people are being asked to call these alternative phone numbers (402) 450-0862, (402) 430-7518,(402) 416-7591,(402) 432-8517, (402) 450-1810.

Brad Hedrick of Windstream Communications says a router in Lincoln failed, causing 9-1-1 outages in several Nebraska communities. He says he's not sure when it will be fixed. Emergency road signs along interstate 80 have been activated providing motorists a number to call in case of a roadside emergency. That phone number is (402) 331-3333 or star 55 on a cell phone
