Lincoln Mayor Says Teachers in Line for Vaccine in Three Weeks

Lincoln and Lancaster County educators could be in line to get their COVID-19 vaccines in just a few weeks under a plan announced Tuesday by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird. Some local teachers are upset they’re at the tail-end of the Phase 1-B group to get vaccinated, but Gaylor Baird assures educators their time is coming soon.

“Based on current vaccine supply and assuming no unforeseen barriers or changes in circumstance arise, we anticipate beginning vaccination for educators three weeks from now at the start of LPS spring break,” Gaylor Baird said.

There are more than 20-thousand educators in the Lincoln and Lancaster County area and the effort will take time. The city is allocated around 5,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine every week.
