As vaccines start to roll out throughout the state, Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said she has received many questions from the community, wanting to know when they will be able to get their vaccine.

Gaylor Baird said the state of Nebraska guided by the Center for Disease Control sets the order of people to receive vaccinations, so there is limited flexibility at the local level when it comes to deciding who gets to line up for a shot.

In the meantime, she said they continue to make progress with the vaccines they do receive. She said during their first two mass vaccination clinics at Pinnacle Bank Arena they were able to vaccinate nearly 4,800 health care workers.

"As we wait for our turns to get vaccinated, please stay smart, stay safe, and stay on guard," Gaylor Baird said.

The mayor said Lincoln-Lancaster County has created a page on its website with vaccine prioritization information, to help answer community questions. For more information visit the city of Lincoln's website and click on the vaccine information tab.
