Thirty-one COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized at Bryan Health in Lincoln, the highest number since June 1.

Vice President of Advancement Bob Ravenscroft says the recent increase is likely due to a combination of factors, including schools and universities reopening, and Labor Day celebrations two weeks ago.

Ravenscroft says the uptick is concerning.

"As Governor Ricketts has stated, his top priority has been to not overwhelm the healthcare system," Ravenscroft said. "As you see this climb in the numbers, with the flu season coming, we don’t want to overwhelm the healthcare system, and we don’t people feeling sick."

Of the 31 hospitalized patients at Bryan Health, 15 are from Lancaster County and 16 are from other communities.

Across the state, 31% of intensive care unit hospital beds are available.

More than 2,200 Nebraskans have been hospitalized with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. 185 are currently in the hospital statewide.
