An Omaha non-profit is working to connect children and adults with necessary technology and resources in the age of remote learning and work.

The Omaha STEM Ecosystem hosted a community roundtable late last month with community business and education leaders to discuss the tech impacts of the pandemic.

Omaha STEM Ecosystem Director Julie Sigmon said both students and members of the workforce may not have access to computers or reliable internet to complete work, or have the knowledge to use the technology. The organization is working to connect them with resources to assist.

Sigmon said across the board, different entities are working through the new normal.

"I think everyone right now, whether or not you’re in business or in education, is looking at, what does this new world look like?" Sigmon said. "And most people are saying it will be some kind of blended environment."

Sigmon said continued dialogue in the community will be key to working through problems, and anyone with questions can reach out to the organization. Two more virtual community roundtables will be held on September 23 and October 20.
