Lincoln Public Schools announced preliminary details for graduation ceremonies and the reopening of schools this fall.
The district previously planned virtual graduations but reconsidered after the governor announced restrictions on gatherings will be further loosened starting June 22.
The ceremonies will be held between July 24 and July 26. Everyone will be required to wear a mask, and other precautions will be taken to ensure health and safety are the priority.
Liz Standish, Associate Superintendent for Business Affairs, said the district is aiming for a full opening in the fall, but the city’s COVID risk dial will help determine in what capacity students will return.
"And we are planning to have that 100%, all students welcome to school, for the full day every day, in our plans for August 12," Standish said.
Standish said the district is testing out synchronous learning, where students have the option to join a classroom via Zoom call if their family chooses to keep them home. This would be available if the risk is moderate.
The district will release more details about the reopening and graduation plans in the coming weeks.
