The Nebraska School Activity Association Representative Assembly has voted to officially adopt bowling as a sanctioned sport. As part of the new status, bowling will have a full state tournament starting next school year. Girls wrestling missed becoming a sanction sport by 3 votes. Instead, Board of Directors approved girls wrestling to become an emerging sport in the state. As an emerging sport, it will give the athletes a chance to participate in the emerging girls' program, but they can also compete against boys if there are not enough female opponents.
