Three more inmates at a low-security corrections center in Omaha have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to seven infections there.

The Community Corrections Center-Omaha houses about 180 men assigned to work detail or work release programs.

A statement from the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says they will investigate close contacts of the men who tested positive.

Several staff members at the Nebraska State Penitentiary have tested positive over the past several weeks. Three inmates there tested negative last week.

The department has faced criticism for not testing more inmates and for not publicly releasing its pandemic response plan.
