The Willa Cather Center in Red Cloud will host its annual spring conference virtually for the first time in the event’s 65-year history. It typically takes place in early June.

Tracy Tucker, Education Director and Archivist for the Willa Cather Center, said the community that has been built around the event is tight-knit, but she is excited to reach a new audience through the digital format.

She said while the event is always different every year, the opportunity for participants to share their love for Willa Cather’s work and continue her legacy is what makes it unique.

“The easy solution would’ve been to say ‘Well, we can’t do it this year,’ or ‘We’ll postpone until later on in the fall,’ but that didn’t really feel like the right solution for us. And so, we found some tools that we thought could work for us and we charged ahead,” Tucker said.

Tucker said the event will be a mix of recorded and live sessions with various speakers and activities, and registration will be open through the entire weekend of the event.
