A fourth staff member at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement.

At least three of the four staff members are employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary. Wednesday's announcement comes just one day after another NSP employee was said to have contracted the disease.

Both staff members are self-isolating at home. The statement says any employees who had close contact with the people in the last 72 hours will self-quarantine until a doctor clears them to return to work.

Staff members and residents at all corrections facilities are required to wear cloth face masks.

An NDCS representative did not respond to a request for further information.

The ACLU of Nebraska is asking a federal judge to order the immediate release of the state’s pandemic response plan for correctional facilities. Department officials have refused to release the information, citing security concerns.
