The Lincoln Chinese Cultural Association has donated personal protective equipment to those in need last week after a fundraiser to purchase the equipment from other countries.

So far the association has ordered 4,000 protective masks and 5,000 disposable gloves. Most have already arrived, but the association plans to order more.

Supplies were donated to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Department, Lincoln Fire and Rescue, and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Shuai Xie is president of the Lincoln Chinese Cultural Association. He said over 40 families have donated to the fundraiser.

“A couple weeks ago, LCCA, the Lincoln Chinese Cultural Association, our both directors and members started to look for protective supplies from overseas country," Xie said. "At the same time we communicate with medical workers from Bryan Health and first responders and research what’s in need. What’s most in need is supplies.”

LCCA is also organizing grocery shopping and Chinese translation for those in need.
