Member stores of the Nebraska Grocery Industry Association have been working to protect workers and customers alike during the COVID-19 spread in Nebraska.

Kathy Siefken, executive director of the Nebraska Grocery Industry Association, said the public should take the situation seriously and families should designate one shopper to protect as many people as possible, as well as avoid the use of reusable bags. Any shoppers who do go out need to maintain a 6-foot distance between themselves and others.

“Responsibility is everyone’s job. Please do your part by following these recommendations and the guidance our governor and our mayors across the state are providing. We know that it is a stressful time for customers, for everyone. And we ask you to be nice to each other,” Siefken said.

Siefken said the supply chain is still strong in the state, and customers should only take what they need to ensure there’s enough for everyone. She said even though many stores still can’t keep toilet paper in stock, there’s no actual shortage, although the variety could be limited for a while.
