State Fair Plans to Continue, Evaluating Options

April 1, 2020 - 2:00pm

The Nebraska State Fair is still planning on an 11-day event in late August and early September, despite current concerns around COVID-19.

Jaime Parr is the interim executive director for the Nebraska State Fair. She said fair organizers are concerned about COVID-19 and are working with their partners to identify those who can still participate with the state fair.

The fair may work on unique ways to keep people coming out to the fair. However, they are also talking with those the fair contracts with to understand the potential impact of not holding the fair as planned.

Parr said fair officials are still working, some from home and some in the office.

“So we’re working through a lot of details and creating options and plans for the future,” Parr said. “But at this point, we are planning to showcase the full 11-day event later this fall.”

The fair also helps host livestock shows in the summer and is assessing those shows with their partners.
