A Congressman from Nebraska is weighing-in on the mysterious drone sightings in western and central Nebraska as authorities look for the source of the unmanned aerial vehicles.

Congressman Adrian Smith says he’s reached out to officials at the Federal Aviation Administration to get answers on the source of the drones. They’ve been seen flying in formation at night across parts of Colorado and Nebraska over the last several weeks. Smith says he’s concerned about privacy and property rights and why there’s no clear indication where the drones are coming from or who owns them. The drones reportedly have 6-foot wingspans and fly in grid-like patterns hundreds of feet in the air. Clusters of drones have now been sighted farther east, including near Grand Island, Columbus and Fairbury. Congressman Smith says Nebraskans who see the drones should contact local law enforcement with details of the sightings. Law enforcement officials in one eastern Colorado county have told residents to keep a look-out for a command-type vehicle in the area that could be the control center for the drone formations.
