Step Forward Awards Recognize Nebraskans Who Go "Above and Beyond"

August 8, 2019 - 10:27am

ServeNebraska, the Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission, is looking for nominations for their Step Forward Awards.

Nebraskans who know a community member who’s gone above and beyond the call of duty are encouraged to nominate those volunteers. ServeNebraska is 25  years old and Executive Director Cathleen Plagger said volunteering is in Nebraskans’ blood.

“There’s so many good things in the state of Nebraska that our citizens do to make this a great state," Plagger said. "That’s who we’re looking for.”

Plagger said she loves reading about all the great work Nebraskans are doing to make their communities a better place.

Nominations are due by August 30 and there are 10 different categories of awards, including adult and youth volunteers, veteran service and disaster volunteers. Winners will be picked by Gov. Pete Ricketts and honored on October 25 at an awards luncheon. To nominate a volunteer, click here.
