Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Accepting Hay Donations for Victims of Flooding

Following the historic Nebraska floods, the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis will begin accepting donations of hay bales for farmers and ranchers in need.

The college is now accepting round and square hay bales of any size at their drop-off point. The donation service, in tandem with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture and Nebraska Extension, is slated to run for roughly two months depending on the need and size of donations.

Meredith Cable, who is an assistant professor at the College of Technical Agriculture, said helping members of the agriculture community is the Nebraska way.

“Nebraska – it seems we always rise to the occasion when we need to help not only fellow Nebraskans but those in other areas of the state that are impacted when it comes to agriculture," Cable said. "I think it’s a good opportunity for our students to be involved and help others, as well as our faculty and staff.”

Cable said the college is also working with individuals who wish to donate fencing supplies and livestock feed.
