Nebraska Wesleyan University has named Dr. Darrin Good as the new president of the liberal arts school.

Good will be the 17th president of the school and will take over for current president Fred Ohles who has served in that position for 12 years. Good’s current role is as the vice president of academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Whittier College in California, where he’s served on the Inclusion and Diversity Committee and has helped create numerous programs that span a broad range of disciplines.

As he prepares for his new role as president of Nebraska Wesleyan University, Good said his experience with liberal arts institutions will carry over to Nebraska.

“Some of the emphases I put on coming to a school like Nebraska Wesleyan is the personal attention," Good said. "They’re going to have small class sizes where their professors are going to know their name. They’re going to go to the cafeteria and see friends, faculty and staff who know them and can make deep connections.”

Good will begin as president of the university on July 1.
