Former Secretaries of State to Speak at Creighton

October 30, 2018 - 3:28pm

Former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell will speak at Creighton University Tuesday night as the school’s last installment of its Presidential Lecture Series.

The sold-out lecture will be moderated by CNN correspondent Suzanne Malveaux, who will lead the conversation with questions centered on Albright and Powell’s history in politics, as well as their opinions on contemporary political issues and topics.

Chief communications officer at Creighton Jim Berscheidt says the discussion will offer a unique opportunity to hear directly from people involved in the political history of the country.

“I think it’ll just be a wonderful opportunity to hear about national and global topics through the lenses of people who lived it for many years in various presidential administrations," Berscheidt said. "It’s not very often that you hear about history directly from people who were a part of making history.”

The talk starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night and will be held at the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Center in Omaha. Over 2,600 people are expected to attend.
