Free Vision Care and Glasses Offered to New Americans at Clinic Through Saturday

October 10, 2018 - 3:25pm

A free vision clinic is being held at Augustana Lutheran Church in Omaha this week for new Nebraskans who arrived to the U.S. as refugees. The clinic is being put on as a partnership between Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska and OneSight, a global vision care nonprofit.

The clinic is offering its services to refugee families and individuals who do not have the insurance or financial means to pay for proper vision care.

Emily Sutton, the statewide administrator for community services with Lutheran Family Services, says the clinic is a special way to give back.

“My favorite part has been just seeing people so happy when somebody has been given their new pair of glasses and they can finally see. It’s just really heartwarming to see people have a quality of vision which improves their quality of life,” Sutton said.

The clinic runs through Saturday, October 13 and registration can be done at the Lutheran Family Services’ website
