The Farnam Story Includes Trolley Tour through Downtown Omaha

September 12, 2018 - 11:45am

The Douglas County Historical Society is offering guests a trolley ride along with an opportunity to learn about the history of Farnam Street, Omaha’s original main street. The event is called Street Talk: The Farnam Story Trolley Tour.

“Ollie” the Trolley will give guests a ride through downtown Farnam Street as they learn about the history of businesses, significant events and more about the timeless street.

Community engagement coordinator for the Historical Society, Roxanne Knutson, said it’s a chance to learn what makes this timeless street so unique.

“You know, I think it’s important to recognize the history of this city, just because Farnam was Omaha’s original main street, back in the day, and so there’s just a lot of great stuff to go over. I think it’s really awesome that people in this town really value the history of it, and I think that’s special for Omaha,” Knutson said.

The first trolley ride is sold out for this Saturday, September 15, but another date has been created due to high demand. The additional Farnam Story event will be Sunday, October 7 from 2-4 p.m. Get ticket information here, or call 402-455-9990 ext. 102.
