Nebraska Impacts from the SCOTUS Travel Ban Support

This week the United States Supreme Court upheld the latest version of President Trump’s travel ban. The executive order is the third of its kind, being issued in September after previous attempts were shut down by various courts. The current ban restricts entry from seven countries.

UNL Professor of Citizenship Law, Anna Williams Shavers, says there are a lot of potential issues in Nebraska that will result from the Supreme Court’s decision.

“So, directly for Nebraska, I would say it will affect relatives being able to join people that are already here, it will affect some of the exchange of ideas that might be experienced, for example, in the university setting,” Shavers said.

Shavers says the biggest impact will be on those families in Nebraska and across the country, hoping to reunite.
