New Housing Study-Lite Program looks to Build Stronger Communities

The Central Nebraska Economic Development District (CNEDD) will be launching their new Housing Study-Lite Program for regional communities next Thursday. Through partnerships with other organizations in the area, the goal is to improve the quality of housing in communities throughout central Nebraska.

CNEDD Executive Director, Judy Petersen, says housing issues need to be addressed as soon as possible.

“…and what’s going to make the greatest impact on their communities, because housing is really one of the very critical needs for each one of the communities. I don’t care if it’s rural or if it’s urban, every community is experiencing a problem,” Petersen said.

Petersen also described how the tools created by the program were to be used by community leaders to gather information and implement their own plans to make a change.

“All of this has been tailored to help a community witness and pull the information together themselves, because we believe that a community, when they are involved in it, they have a vested interest, and they really witness the needs in their communities. Then they can take the necessary next steps to address those housing needs,” Petersen said.

If you want to learn more about the housing program, there’s a meeting Thursday, June 28th afternoon from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Loup City Community Center.
