Nebraska receives average grades for manufacturing, logistics

A new manufacturing and logistics report card gives Nebraska average grades compared to the rest of the nation. The report from Conexus Indiana gives Nebraska “C’s” and “B’s” in the areas of Benefits and Costs, Global Positioning and Tax Climate. The state’s highest marks came in with “A’s” in Human Capital and Liability Gap.

The state saw a decline in performance in it's Productivity and Innovation grade from a "D" to "D-".

The grades are designed to show businesses the expansion potential in different states. The report is a partnership with the Ball State Center for Business and Economic Research. Director Michael Hicks says there are a few ways for Nebraska to improve their report card in coming years.

“You know one of the things that would really boost Nebraska is to have more science and technology agribusiness research dollars matched by those from the State legislature,” Hicks said.

State officials can use the data to improve business opportunities within Nebraska.
