Authorities in eastern Nebraska have recovered the body of a man whose boat was found adrift on a housing development lake near Valley.
The man, identified as 49-year-old Dennis McGuire, was last seen overnight on Saturday in Ginger Cove, a lakeside residential area near Omaha.
Valley Police Chief Brett Smith said the initial cause of death is drowning.
“The body was discovered in water that was less than three feet deep,” Smith said. “He was face down in the water when water-rescue found him this morning.”
The search for McGuire began on Saturday afternoon and resumed Sunday morning, but was called off later that day due to heat.
An autopsy with the Douglas County Coroner is scheduled for tomorrow. An investigation into the death of McGuire is ongoing.
